MADRID, Spain -- Spain coach Luis Aragones criticized his players in the aftermath of their shock 1-1 home draw against lowly Bosnia-Herzegovina in World Cup qualifying.
"There was too much anxiety, hastiness and disorganization," Aragones said. "There were occasions when we had four forwards all in a line and that's no good. On the left wing we didn't overlap enough."
Only an injury-time goal by defender Carlos Marchena spared a Spanish humiliation.
He equalized Zvjezdan Misimovic's 39th-minute goal in Wednesday's game at Valencia's Mestalla stadium.
"Our opponents took advantage of our anxiety. They had one attack in the first half, scored and then made good use of the situation," Aragones said on Thursday.
While Spain's point moved them to the top of Group 7, the result was a blow to the team's chances of directly qualifying for next year's finals in Germany.
Spain have 13 points from seven games, with Serbia-Montenegro on 12 points from six. Lithuania are next with nine points, followed by Belgium with eight and Bosnia with seven, all from six games.
Spain host Serbia-Montenegro on September 7 in a match which should have a major bearing on the final standings.
"We're all packed together but I still think we'll finish in first place because we're the best," Aragones said.
Spain's press on Thursday were equally displeased by the result which ended a streak of 16 consecutive home victories in World Cup qualifying games.
Puyol in plaster
Barcelona captain Carles Puyol will miss his club's post-season tour of Japan after suffering a hairline fracture of his left ankle against Bosnia.
Puyol went off after seven minutes and club doctor Luis Til said: "The fracture was caused when he twisted his ankle. He will be in plaster for about 10 days and will then start physiotherapy."
Til estimated it would take the player a month and a half to make a complete recovery.
Italian midfielder Demetrio Albertini and Andres Iniesta are also out of Barca's tour because of injury, while Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o, Juliano Belletti and Rafael Marquez are unavailable because of international duty.
Primera Liga champions Barcelona play Yokohama Marinos on Sunday and Urawa Reds next Wednesday
