MIAMI (CNN) -- Hurricane Felix is no more. The wayward Atlantic storm took a tumble with the National Hurricane Center's 5 p.m. advisory on August 20 -- Felix is now a tropical storm.
And the former East Coast tease is expected to fade into oblivion in the next few days, drifting northeastward and out of tropical waters where the intensity of the giant storm should diminish rapidly.
Felix, now located about 700 miles southwest of Sable Island, Nova Scotia and travelling near 7 miles per hour, slowed its swirling mass of winds to 70 mph late Sunday afternoon, with more deceleration expected.
But forecasters warned that the Cape Cod, Massachusetts, are, could fall under a tropical storm watch should Felix drift toward the coast as it exits the stage.
Felix took an unpredictable journey across the Atlantic last week, first brushing Bermuda with hurricane force winds before scaring tourists and residents off the coasts of North Carolina and Virginia.
At least six people died from tricky riptides caused by Felix's swells, but the storm stalled without coming ashore, then briefly appeared to turn back toward Bermuda. Tropical storm watches were issued for the island country on Saturday, but those watches have now been lifted.
UNION, S.C. (CNN) -- Workmen erected two granite markers commemorating Michael and Alex Smith on the banks of John D. Long Lake on August 1, memorials to the two boys drowned by their mother last year.
Susan Smith was convicted of killing the boys three weeks ago and sentenced to life in prison.
Community members in Union led the drive for the two markers, and a crowd gathered Saturday to watch workers dig the foundations and settle the large granite markers into place.
A dedication ceremony will be scheduled after landscaping of the area is completed.

Last year, 6,252 tappers danced their way to a world record. Organizers said an even larger number was on hand this year, but the official count was not immediately available.
A dancer outfitted as the former song-and-dance cartoon star Betty Boop led the assembly in this year's routine.
